According to sources from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in major markets such as Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt, the Naira is trading at approximately ₦1,531.29 to 1 USD on the black market as of today.

This rate marks a significant depreciation compared to earlier in the year, with posts on social media noting that the Naira was valued at ₦882 per USD on January 1, 2024, and had declined sharply to ₦1,533 by August 2, 2025.

The weakening Naira remains a topic of concern for Nigerians, as it affects the cost of imported goods, fuel prices, and overall inflation.BDC operators attribute the current rate to persistent foreign exchange scarcity, driven by high demand for dollars amidst limited supply in the parallel market.

While the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) continues to implement policies to stabilize the Naira, the black market remains a key indicator of public sentiment and economic pressures. Other currencies, such as the British Pound (GBP), Euro (EUR), and Canadian Dollar (CAD), are also being traded at elevated rates, with 1 GBP at ₦2,200.22, 1 EUR at ₦1,850.19, and 1 CAD at ₦1,180.12, according to recent updates.

Analysts suggest that the Naira’s performance in the black market reflects broader economic challenges, including fluctuations in global oil prices and Nigeria’s reliance on imports.

Nigerians are advised to stay informed through reliable sources for daily exchange rate updates, as rates can vary across regions and times of the day.
